Sale decorating guide
Planning a rendered exterior. Practical points to prepare before requesting a quote.

Planning a rendered exterior
Start with photographs of every elevation, including cracks, flaking paint and areas near gutters or downpipes. Surface condition, access and repairs should be assessed before a decorating price is confirmed.
Colours and finishes
Compare exterior colour samples on more than one side of the property. Shade and direct sunlight can make the same colour look different; include trim and window colours in the comparison.
Before requesting a price
Send your full postcode, photographs, approximate dimensions and your preferred dates. Explain any access restrictions and whether furniture needs to stay in place. Ask for preparation, materials and the surfaces included to be set out in the written quotation.
For properties with special restrictions, confirm any relevant requirements before changing the exterior or original features.
